Educational programs for parents

Family Education Programs

SKKA A LIFE PLAN invests particularly in close cooperation with families, whose members it considers as partners and companions in the course of the implementation of the Life Plan of each individual. As a result, informational and educational talks are organized with the aim of better involving families in the overall planning process and keeping them informed about issues related to daily life and the development of both the individual and the family as a whole

The topics are decided either from the requests of the families themselves, or from the current circumstances in the field.

Cygnet Training Program

The Cygnet training program aims to help parents, caregivers, and family members better understand the autism spectrum. Through a structured and organized process, it provides basic information about autism, as well as updates on contemporary approaches and intervention techniques.
At the same time, the program serves as a space for meeting and exchanging experiences, where participants have the opportunity to share their thoughts, concerns, and practices, with the aim of improving the quality of life for both their children and the family itself.
The Cygnet program was developed in England by the charity Barnardo’s – Believe in Children and translated into Greek by the Society for Psychosocial Studies (E.PSY.ME.).
The groups are addressed to:

  • parents whose child has recently been diagnosed
  • parents who, for various reasons, were unable to participate in a suitable program when their child was younger
  • family members who wish to learn more about autism spectrum disorder
  • caregivers who provide direct support to individuals on the autism spectrum
The instructors who deliver the program are certified by the relevant authorities.
Participants: 5–12 people per group
Duration: 6 three-hour sessions, held every 15 days
